Oliver Reed was born on February 13, 1938, in the suburb of Wimbledon, London. He was a British actor who gained recognition for his solid and imposing presence on the screen. Coming from a film dynasty as the nephew of renowned filmmaker Sir Carol Reed, Oliver had a tumultuous youth, frequently changing jobs.
Early Career
In the mid-1950s, Reed found himself drawn to the world of cinema. He made his film debut in the 1961 Hammer horror film "The Curse of the Werewolf," where he appeared in a significant role. However, it took several years for him to achieve international fame, which came in 1968 when he portrayed Bill Sikes in the musical film "Oliver."
